Boat
Alabama Certification Manual
This
web-based instructional course supplements and parallels
a printed study manual offered by the state of Alabama to people
wishing to obtain an Alabama boating license. While some may prefer
to study the printed glove-compartment sized manual, others may
enjoy the larger viewing format and graphics offered in the
web version of the manual. (This site was developed by Ellacrea
Design as sub-contractor for Kalkomey Enterprises, Inc.)

Alyssa's
Soap Cottage
This
retailer of handcrafted soaps and bath
products initially asked Ellacrea Design
to make minor updates to its shopping
cart code. Discussions about methods
for improving search engine standings led
to a complete re-design of the site's
layout and online product presentation,
including the elimination of frames.
This client uses a free but effective e-commerce solution
for its online sales.

Covington's
Nursery & Landscape
Highlights
of this client's site include a Flash
slide show of a small sampling
of Covington's stunning landscape designs,
as well as mailing list registration for
both retail and wholesale customers.
Although not critical from a marketing
standpoint, the web designer placed
special emphasis on sharing the
history of Covington's because
the business so purely reflects the
owner's strengths as both an entrepreneur
and a family man.

Adventures
in Boating - Washington
The
state of Washington needed an online
version of its boating safety instruction
course. And, due to state accessibility
guidelines, the website needed
to be fully accessible to disabled
users (Priority 1 compliant). To satisfy
the needs of both the mainstream
and ADA audiences, parallel versions
of the course were developed. (This
site was developed by Ellacrea Design
as sub-contractor for Kalkomey Enterprises,
Inc.)

Today's
Hunter
An
established publisher of boating safety
courses contracted with Ellacrea Design
to create an online version of their
new 88-page printed course on hunting
skills and safety. Text content and
print images were provided in a Quark
Xpress document, and Ellacrea Design
developed the new graphical user
interface and website architectural
structure. Interactive Flash animations were
developed to enhance the print content.

Design as sub-contractor for Kalkomey

Dr.
Janet Stone Gonzalez, DDS
The
colors and style of this site mirror
Dr. Gonzalez's office decor, and the
use of custom-tinted photos further
unifies the overall design. As a service
to new patients, the site provides downloadable
Patient Information forms in both
Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word formats.
Ellacrea
Design managed every aspect of this
site's development, including domain
registration and arrangements for hosting.

Pecan
Creek Nursery & Landscape
A highly
collaborative effort with a computer-savvy
client, Pecan Creek Nursery's site
is a work in progress. The first
phase of this site includes mailing
list registration and links to online
shopping through an outside partner.
Future phases will include interactive
slide shows. Ellacrea Design steered
the development process, requesting
specific photographic content and writing
the web copy. However, the client's
valuable creative input and hands-on
approach helped make this business
relationship a true partnership.

Nike
Military Sales (password-protected site for internal users only)
With
"selling specialists" stationed at military bases around
the globe, Nike's Military Sales group needed a way to keep their
people informed about product and merchandising initiatives. Designed
as a "one-stop" resource, the site provides training
materials, contact information, photos of correctly merchandised
stores, and news about Nike and the sales group. The site also features
input forms allowing the selling specialists to submit their
weekly time cards and monthly sales feedback comments via
the Web.

ServPlex
Corporation
A
re-design of an existing site, special
emphasis was placed on a fresh look with
all new custom graphics, and a Flash
banner. The other primary focus
was on search engine optimization.
Special features of the ServPlex site
include keyword-rich pages, use of
various back-end customer support scripts,
and continuously refreshed webcam images.
(ServPlex was acquired by another corporation
in 2003, and the website is no longer
live.)

TexasTel (URL
no longer live)
TexasTel,
a competitive local exchange carrier,
needed a new website to tie in with
their new corporate trademark, their
print advertising materials, and the
launch of a radio ad campaign. Along
with many other telecommunications
company, TexasTel was unable to survive
recent market conditions, and shut
down operations in the summer of 2002.
Their management team has graciously
permitted Ellacrea Design to continue
using their home page as a portfolio
example, even though the TexasTel URL
is no longer active.
